Transforming Black Lives One Person at a Time.

Welcome!

Greetings! My name is Dr. Erin H. Moore, and I teach Transformative Black Studies (TBS). TBS is more than just African American History - it is the study of the fundamental elements of our humanity - how we see, define, and experience the world. This is Advanced African American Studies - courses designed to meet the specific and unique needs of the Black community.

For if there ever were a people that needed to study themselves, it's us.

Come and join me on this journey of discovery!

What is Transformative Black Studies?

20260201_115005_edited.jpg
The Most Important Knowledge is Self-Knowledge.

Transformative Black Studies uses the foundational knowledge of classical and traditional African cultures to rebuild and restructure Black lives in the 21st Century.

As Black people worldwide continue to subsist in a world where our humanity is not valued, we need to consider and evaluate what systems and structures actually work for us.

These courses are arranged in a set of 7 series of themes called The Essentials - Essential because they are necessary to rebuild our lives, communities and families while simultaneously connecting us to our severed past.

What makes these courses different?

These courses are PRIVATE, so you don't have to worry about trolls or people who do not have our best interests at heart.

TBS teaches ADVANCED African American Studies - for people who want to get beyond the first Black person to do this or that.

This is an educational experience where you can build a COMMUNITY with people across the globe as we navigate the challenges and opportunities of this present moment while learning from each other.

These are courses that are challenging, thought-provoking, and ultimately, life changing.

The Essentials

Each Series is 7-10 weeks of Ancient Wisdom

Vital for the 21st Century

Embracing Black Identity

The Essence of Black Love and Beauty

Empowering Black Families

Educating Black Children

Elevating Black Communities

Exploring Divine Spirit

Enhancing Our Futures

Everyone deserves a life of meaning.

Yet for Black people that quest has often been elusive.

There are many things that give life meaning – our relationships with others, our creative endeavors, productive work and spiritual practices – all are important elements that create a meaningful life. Yet one of the most important features in generating a meaningful life is a solid grounding in place and time - a legacy. The legacy that one's history and culture provide brings a potency to life that is often overlooked, but is a necessary foundation and grounding from whence to move forward.

The study of history and culture is more than remembering dates, knowing facts and recounting firsts. It is a pursuit of transformation, a quest for meaning. The Essentials series offers students the tools of transformation, methods of making meaning, and processes of problem solving found in classical and traditional African culture.

Having knowledge doesn’t make you wise, it makes you responsible. Transformative Black Studies examines three core concepts in an effort to respond to that charge:

  • How do we LOOK:  the construction of a Black identity and how we see each other.

  • How do we LOVE:  the essence of Black relationships and how we support each other.

  • How do we LEAD:  the education of the Black community and how we save each other.

The goal of this series is to offer participants the opportunity to redefine Blackness by understanding the power of our African heritage and the agency it offers in the transformation of our communities and in our lives. These courses will help participants build a personal foundation of wisdom grounded in the:

  • RECLAMATION of our lost history, heritage, and cultural legacy.

  • REDEFINITION of the world on our terms, using African classical wisdom as the foundation.

  • RESTORATION of our sense of strength, identity, family and community.

Our Knowledge, Our Wisdom, Our Time

About Me

My name is Dr. Erin H. Moore and I am unashamedly in love with Black people. All of our beauty and our flaws, all of our joys and our sorrows, all of our triumphs and our tragedies. And through it all, we survived and thrived. How was this possible?

My quest to answer these questions took me on a journey deep within the discipline of African American Studies (or Africology, as many of us call it). I have earned a Masters Degree in Black Studies from The Ohio State University and a Doctorate in African American Studies from Temple University. I have studied at The London School of Economics and the University of Ghana, Legon, in Accra, Ghana. My professional career has spanned corporate marketing, nonprofit management, and teaching at the collegiate and K-12 level.
